# Learn - research explainers

Question-led articles that answer what people actually search, written from the published record and cited to the original journals and registries.

## [Growth Hormone and Growth Hormone-Releasing Peptides](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/growth-hormone-peptides)

Growth hormone is one molecule. The so-called "HGH peptides" are different molecules. They press other switches on cells, called receptors. They act one step before growth hormone, or alongside it. This hub explains what growth hormone is and how long it stays in the blood. It shows how the two main families of releasing peptides differ from it. It also says what Australian and sport records say, with every answer sourced and dated.

- [Are growth hormone peptides legal in Australia? Poisons Standard, TGA and WADA records](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/growth-hormone-peptides/are-growth-hormone-releasing-peptides-legal-in-australia) - What the October 2026 Poisons Standard (F2026L01327), the TGA and the WADA 2026 list record about somatropin, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, GHRP-2, GHRP-6, sermorelin and tesamorelin, with the date each record was checked. Records only; this is not legal advice.

Minutes in a vein, hours under the skin](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/growth-hormone-peptides/somatropin-half-life) - The FDA labels give a half-life of 0.4 hours for intravenous Genotropin and 3.0 to 3.8 hours for somatropin given under the skin. The difference is slow absorption, not a second hormone.
- [What is somatropin? ANP (atrial natriuretic peptide) is a hormone your heart makes. It has two relatives, BNP and CNP, and together they are called the natriuretic peptides. ## [Are peptides legal in Australia? Research peptide schedule status](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/peptides-and-australian-law)

## [Peptides in Australia: Research, Law and Verification](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/peptides-in-australia)

Research peptides are amino-acid chains supplied for laboratory investigation, not human or animal use ([Form Laboratories research-material statement](/), checked 15 October 2026). Australian law applies therapeutic-goods requirements and substance-specific scheduling; a research label does not remove regulatory obligations ([TGA, peptide regulation](https://www.tga.gov.au/products/medicines/monitoring-and-compliance/how-we-regulate-therapeutic-peptide-products); [October 2026 Poisons Standard](https://www.legislation.gov.au/F2026L01327/asmade/2026-09-30/text/original/epub/OEBPS/document_1/document_1.html), checked 15 October 2026).

## [Weight loss: what the research says](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/weight-loss)

Weight-loss research on the quiz items is uneven. Human clinical trials of the molecules behind the two GLP research peptides, RTA and TRZ, recorded group-average falls in body weight against placebo in trials of 48 to 80 weeks. Those trials were mostly developer-funded, enrolled screened adults and tested trial drug product, not research material. For BPC-157, searches on 14 October 2026 found animal tendon studies and no weight-loss study in people.

## [Muscle gain: what the research says](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/muscle-gain)

The research on muscle gain for the two quiz items is indirect. CJC-1295 and ipamorelin have small human studies in healthy adults that measured growth hormone levels, not muscle. BPC-157 has rat studies of injured muscle and tendon and a few human reports with no control group. No human study found for these guides measured muscle mass after any of the three peptides.

## [Injury recovery: what the research says](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/injury-recovery)

Research on injury recovery for BPC-157 and TB-500 is mainly animal research. Rat studies of BPC-157 after a cut tendon or muscle reported better healing measures than in untreated rats, and the three published human pilot reports had no control group (FDA, July 2026). The FDA's May 2026 briefing identified no human study of TB-500; the closest evidence is a mouse wound study of its parent protein. Animal results do not show what happens in people.

## [Anti-ageing skin: what the research says](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/anti-ageing-skin)

Skin research on GHK-Cu and TB-500 comes mainly from cell and animal studies. In a laboratory cell study, GHK-Cu increased collagen production; one small human study after laser resurfacing found no clear measured difference between groups. The FDA’s May 2026 briefing document identified no human study of TB-500, and the closest skin result is a 2003 study in aged mice of its parent protein. Neither record establishes how ageing human skin changes.

## [Focus: what the research says](https://www.formlaboratories.com/learn/focus)

Published research on the two Focus quiz items comes from cells, animals and small human studies. Semax studies measured BDNF, a brain protein, in cells and rats, and the human studies are small, with no placebo-controlled trial in patients. CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin studies in small groups of healthy people measured growth hormone. None of these studies measured focus in people.
