# Semax in Perth: Research Records and WA Status

Updated 2026-11-06.

Semax is a short lab-made peptide of seven amino acids, copied from a small piece of the body signal ACTH. A text search of the October 2026 Poisons Standard (F2026L01327) found no entry naming Semax. We read it on 14 October 2026. That is a result about one document on one day. It is not a statement about what is allowed in Western Australia.

Think of a library with four shelves. One shelf holds research papers. One holds the law. One holds a regulator notice. One holds the courier slip for a parcel. Each shelf answers a different question. This page is part of [the Perth research peptides hub](/learn/peptides-perth) and sits beside [the wider Perth peptides guide](/peptides-perth). It reads the Semax shelves one at a time, so you can see what each record says and where it stops.

## What is Semax?

Semax is a peptide made of seven amino acids, in the order Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. A peptide is a short chain of amino acids. Semax is a lab-made copy of a small piece of ACTH, a signal that the pituitary gland releases in the body. Its formula is C37H51N9O10S and its weight is 813.93 g/mol, as the FDA's July 2026 briefing document records. [The Semax research guide](/research/semax) covers the compound itself.

The FDA says products sold as Semax can be different forms. One is the free base. Another is a salt such as the acetate. The FDA counts each one as a separate substance. So a name on a label tells you little. Only a lab report on a named sample tells you what that sample held.

## What do the Semax records leave open?

The records on this page do not show anyone's legal position on Semax in Perth. They are a text search of one law, a regulator notice and research papers. We read them on 14 October 2026. Four things were not checked. These are the live ARTG register, the Russian drug register, state and territory laws and US federal drug lists. Each record answers one question only. This page gives no legal advice.

A schedule entry sorts a substance under poisons law. An ARTG entry approves a product. A research paper describes a molecule. A tracking link follows a parcel. Mixing these up is the most common way to misread peptide law. So this page keeps each record in its own section.

## Is Semax legal in Western Australia?

This page cannot say whether Semax is legal in Western Australia, and no record we read says it is or is not. A text search of the October 2026 Poisons Standard (F2026L01327) found no entry naming Semax. We read it on 14 October 2026. An absent name is not a permission and it is not a ban. Whether an act is lawful depends on the act, the person and the place.

A name search cannot rule out group headings. A group heading can reach a substance it does not name. This page draws no group-heading conclusion for Semax. The same instrument names corticotrophin and tetracosactide in Schedule 4. Those entries name other substances, and this page does not say they reach Semax. [The WA scheduling explainer](/learn/peptides-perth/peptides-and-wa-law) sets out the federal and Western Australian layers of law. It cannot stand in for this dated search. The full legal record is on [the Semax legal status page](/learn/semax/is-semax-legal-in-australia).

## What does the TGA advisory say beside an absent Semax entry?

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) advisory of 13 April 2026 does not name Semax. It names BPC-157, GHK-Cu, TB-500, retatrutide and CJC-1295 as examples of unapproved peptide products. The TGA calls goods that are not on the ARTG, the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, unapproved peptide products. The ARTG is a live database. We did not search it for this page. Absence from a document is not approval.

The advisory says a research-use-only label does not make supply lawful. It also says state and territory laws may add controls. These points apply to every peptide on the catalogue. This page offers no legal advice and implies no exemption.

## What do the Semax research papers record?

Most of the published Semax work comes from rats and cell cultures, and much of it is from Russia. The FDA says Semax is a registered drug in Russia, citing that country's State Register of Medicines. A 2022 review by Deigin and colleagues calls Semax an original Russian peptide drug. The register itself was not searched for this page. A paper about a molecule is not a test of any vial.

One rodent study (Eremin et al., Neurochemical Research, 2005) looked at dopamine, a brain chemical messenger. The abstract gives no group sizes, and it is not a human result. A 2016 study (Magri et al., Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry) used test-tube and cell-line experiments on Ac-Semax, a different form. This page quotes no outcome from any of them. Each paper is a record of what was measured, not a statement about any supply.

## What does the Semax listing record?

The store lists Semax as a research reference peptide for laboratory work. The catalogue records the pack size and storage at 2-8 C. The price is $52 AUD. The listing is for research use only. A catalogue label changes none of the records above, and it is not a statement that any sale is lawful.

The catalogue sends readers to its certificate library for lab reports. This page has not opened a report for a current lot, and it makes no claim about purity or identity. What a lot number can establish explains what a lot code does and does not show.

## Which part of the Perth journey can a tracking record answer?

Tracking can record a parcel's progress and an estimated delivery date. It does not show identity, purity or legal permission. The store's shipping page says orders leave Perth, Western Australia, packed and sent by Australia Post or CouriersPlease after payment has cleared. A tracking email follows when the order is handed over. The dispatch and tracking record is the whole of what this page draws on for the journey.

The shipping page says the outer packaging is plain and unbranded. The route is domestic and online only. There is no public counter or collection point. Perth is the place a parcel starts. Nothing here gives an address, opening hours or a place to visit.

## Comparison

Four records, four questions. Each column is one record. Each row states what it is drawn from, the question it answers and the question it cannot answer. The table does not rank them or compare products.

## Frequently asked questions

### Did the October 2026 Poisons Standard search find an entry for Semax?

A text search of F2026L01327, the October 2026 Poisons Standard instrument, found no entry naming Semax. We read it on 14 October 2026. The search does not show whether a group heading reaches Semax. It is not a statement of permission. We have not checked the position since that day.

### Does the TGA name Semax in its April 2026 advisory?

No. The TGA advisory of 13 April 2026 names BPC-157, GHK-Cu, TB-500, retatrutide and CJC-1295 as examples of unapproved peptide products. It does not name Semax. The advisory also says a research-use-only label does not make supply lawful. Absence from a document is not approval.

### Where does the store send Semax from?

Orders leave Perth, Western Australia. The store packs them and sends them by Australia Post or CouriersPlease after payment has cleared. The outer packaging is plain and unbranded. A tracking email follows when the order is handed over. The Semax listing is for research use only.

### Is Semax an approved medicine in Australia?

No TGA document we read lists Semax as an approved medicine. We did not search the ARTG, the live register of approved goods, for this page. So this page says nothing about any single ARTG entry. The FDA's July 2026 briefing document says Semax is not a component of any FDA-approved drug.
